Robbies Reviews - Cloverfield

CloverfieldFollowing my negative comments on Juno, I move on to a brighter note regarding the new cult film Cloverfield. This underplayed, non-Hollywood style monster epic renewed my faith in cinema after watching Juno and is probably the best monster film I have ever seen (King Kong doesn’t even come close). With a subtle yet exciting plot and an intriguing ending, this film is fast-paced and exciting and never gets tedious. The hand-held camera angles may prove a little motion-sickness inducing in some cases, but that is never enough to make you tear your eyes from the screen. The plot is perfectly paced - not revealing anything until necessary - and it draws you into the story brilliantly. An absolute must see film.
