Welcome!

Hello Cartmel! First of all let me start with a massive thank you on behalf of the whole JCR Exec, as without your votes we would not be here representing you today.

So moving on; this is the very first edition of the magazine under my editorship. This will not always be the case though. One position on the JCR Exec was not filled last term in week 8, and it was the other Magazine Editor; personally I did-n’t think I was that scary to work with! If you want to run for this posi-tion the list where you add your name will have been put up in the Porters Lodge Monday of week 2. All names must be up on the list by Monday week 4, the 5th February. Between the list being taken down that Monday and hustings you will have the opportunity to campaign, which I must say is very, very fun indeed! Especially if you consider standing outside for hours in the freezing Lancaster weather convincing people to go inside and vote for you. You will be allocated a campaign budget which you must not exceed, and I plead people to be as imaginative as they can. It worked for Magic Sam!

Hustings will then take place on Thursday of that week, where you will have to produce a speech at maximum of 3 minutes to tell peo-ple why you think you should be elected to become one of Cartmel’s Magazine Editors. After all speeches are completed questions will be open to the floor, who will ask everyone on a group basis first before individual questions. I wish you all the best of luck and strongly urge you all to put your names down! Phil Miles.
